NOTE: Only use Lantern Helmet if you're farming using an axe.
Rancher's Boots vs. Fermento Boots
You'll notice that in the armor progression, it's recommended to use 4/4 Fermento instead of 3/4 with Rancher's Boots.
This is for 3 main reasons:
- The maximum Farming Fortune granted by Fermento Boots is higher than Rancher's Boots.
- Assuming both are hypermaxed, including Farming 60, Fermento Boots give up to 4 more Farming Fortune. The lower the farming level, the bigger the difference.
- The difference here is very minimal for money, but it's still more, and it is useful for contests and collection leaderboards.
- Using 4/4 Fermento increases the chance for rare crop drops (Cropie, Squash and Fermento).
- This increases your rates by up to 180k-540k coins per hour (using NPC sell prices).
- Cropie: 180,000
- Squash: 540,000
- Fermento: 180,000
- This increases your rates by up to 180k-540k coins per hour (using NPC sell prices).
- Most modern farm designs are designed with using 4/4 fermento in mind
- Higher speed to make tuning possible as anything under 176 speed is not possible for fermento.
- Some designs use 400 speed which means no tuning required: see melon/pumpkin.
Lantern Helmet vs. Fermento Helmet
Once any reforge is used (even just Bustling), Fermento Helmet becomes better than Lantern Helmet in all cases.
- This is because the Lantern helmet has a lower rarity leading to reforges being better on Fermento.
